The iPad mini 7 release date, specs and price remain a mystery in terms of concreate information, with Apple not even acknowledging the existence of the device, however the rumor mill continues to grind our that sweet speculative flour and there have been a good number of leaks that suggest it does exist, and that we can expect it soon – the only question is: how soon?

We’ve been waiting for new of the iPad mini 7 for some time now, and with the previous model coming out two years prior, now would seem the right time for Apple to unveil the next model. If we look at the launch and release date history of previous iPad minis (listed below), every iPad mini besides the 5th gen model has been revealed in September-October, being released (i.e. available to buy), at some point in the September – November window. Top commenters like Ming-Chi Kuo have, over the last year, put the likely iPad mini 7 release date as landing somewhere between Q4 2023 and Q1 2024, and we haven’t heard much to contradict this yet.

Following this we’ve had leaks from the likes of from ShrimpApplePro (as you can see below) which claimed that ‘at least one new iPad… Probably mini 7’ is coming. This is obviously somewhat vague but there’s been a general consensus now that the release of the new devices isn’t far away, the only question is how far?

Probably the best Apple leaker/commenter in the game is Mark Gurman, who writes his PowerUp newsletter on Bloomberg. Back in July, Mr Gurman leant more towards an October release, but as at the 15th of October, he has changed his mind – saying he no longer believes we’ll see an October release.

So to some all this up then, our iPad mini 7 release date window prediction is for a March 2024 release.

Although at the time of writing there’s still some runway left in the October -November period that Apple usually launches iPads in, the release of the new Apple Pencil on its own on October 17th throws some cold water on this, as you’d expect Apple just to launch both devices simultaneously if they were going to come out anywhere near the same time. This being the case, we think Apple will probably opt for their later March release period.

Possible iPad mini 7 specs (rumored)

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg fame has stated that he believes the iPad mini 7 will only see a relatively minor ‘spec bump’ rather than a complete redesign, and this has been echoed by pretty much every other commenter. Translating this into actual likely specifications, this probably means a chipset upgrade (most likely to A16 Bionic from the current A15 Bionic – A17 is probably a bit too much to hope for), but with the ports and display configuration remaining very similar.

We may however see the adoption of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, alongside software/firmware features like ‘Apple Pencil hover’ that came with the latest iPad Pro models.

Once again nothing has been confirmed about the iPad mini 7 price, however, we can look at the previous pricing and extrapolate out from there.

The iPad mini 6 price for the entry level option with 64GB storage was $499, which increased all the way up to the 256GB version costing $649. Given the standard 10th gen iPad sells for an MSRP of $449, we think it’s likely that the iPad mini 7 price will probably remain the same as the previous iteration, with a starting price of around $499 – but time will tell!
